Description located in the Central Region of Ghana. It has a project in place running which is known as Kakum Cocoa Agroforestry Project which is under the GCFRP. It has in place, consortium partners made up of reps from government institutions(FC, COCOBOD), District Assembly, Private Companies, Sub-HIA Executive committees, CREMA, and CRMC's.

Status:

Governance Structures development on going. There are plans underway to develop 3 Sub-HIAs by close of 2021. Four Community Resource Management Areas (CREMA) have been developed forming 1 Sub-HIA. Additional Three CREMAs have been developed with CREMA executives selected for subsequent formation of a second Sub-HIA.
Community entries have begun for the formation of Community Management Committees for the 3rd Sub-HIA developement. After the third HIA,
The next step will develop Hotspot Management Board (HMB) in this HIA. The Governance structures are expected to be fully developed by end of December, 2021 with signing of Framework Agreement.

Main Activities:

Supply of Shade Tree Seedlings to farmers to be planted in their farms.

Training of stakeholders on REDD+ safeguards instruments (ESMF, SESA).

 Training of Farmers on Climate Smart Cocoa Practices and Farmer Business School.
